Listings of files that are unique to each directory are generated for all the options. If no option is entered, a list is output indicating whether the file names common to both directories have the same contents. .SH OPTIONS .sp .LP The following options are supported: .sp .ne 2 .mk .na \fB\fB-d\fR\fR .ad .RS 8n .rt Compares the contents of files with the same name in both directories and output a list telling what must be changed in the two files to bring them into agreement. The list format is described in \fBdiff\fR(1). .RE .sp .ne 2 .mk .na \fB\fB-s\fR\fR .ad .RS 8n .rt Suppresses messages about identical files. .RE .sp .ne 2 .mk .na \fB\fB-w\fR \fIn\fR\fR .ad .RS 8n .rt Changes the width of the output line to \fIn\fR characters. The default width is \fB72\fR. .RE .SH OPERANDS .sp .LP The following operands are supported: .sp .ne 2 .mk .na \fB\fIdir1\fR\fR .ad .br .na \fB\fIdir2\fR\fR .ad .RS 8n .rt A path name of a directory to be compared. .RE .SH USAGE .sp .LP See \fBlargefile\fR(5) for the description of the behavior of \fBdircmp\fR when encountering files greater than or equal to 2 Gbyte ( 2^31 bytes). .SH ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES .sp .LP See \fBenviron\fR(5) for descriptions of the following environment variables that affect the execution of \fBdircmp\fR: \fBLC_COLLATE\fR, \fBLC_CTYPE\fR, \fBLC_MESSAGES\fR, and \fBNLSPATH\fR. .SH EXIT STATUS .sp .LP The following exit values are returned: .sp .ne 2 .mk .na \fB\fB0\fR\fR .ad .RS 6n .rt Successful completion. .RE .sp .ne 2 .mk .na \fB\fB>0\fR\fR .ad .RS 6n .rt An error occurred. (Differences in directory contents are not considered errors.) .RE .SH ATTRIBUTES .sp .LP See \fBattributes\fR(5) for descriptions of the following attributes: .sp .sp .TS tab() box; cw(2.75i) |cw(2.75i) lw(2.75i) |lw(2.75i) .
