The \fBfilter()\fR function changes how X/Open Curses initializes terminal  capabilities that assume the terminal has more than one line. After a call to \fBfilter()\fR, the \fBinitscr\fR(3XCURSES) or \fBnewterm\fR(3XCURSES) functions also:
